Colombia. The "Los Llanos" photovoltaic power plant, developed and managed by the company Trina Solar in Colombia, is already connected to that country's electricity grid and officially declares its commercial operations.
The president of Colombia, Iván Duque Márquez, made the ribbon cutting at the award ceremony on January 22. He expressed his gratitude to the brand for its important contribution to achieving a smooth connection to the electricity grid and said that it will allow thousands of Colombian families to have safe, reliable and permanent energy. Colombia has made great strides in renewable energy, he said, and by next year installed capacity in the solar and wind categories in the country will have increased sevenfold.
Phases one, two and three of the "Los Llanos" solar power plant, with a total installed capacity of 82 MWp, have been developed by Trina Solar's International Systems Business Unit (ISBU). Its Colombia subsidiary, which is wholly owned by the company, provided Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) management services for this project. The first phase of the plant provided a capacity of 27 Megawatts/p and was connected to the electricity grid last October. This phase, which has just joined the same system, also has an installed capacity of 27 Megawatts / p megawatts and will generate 51 Gigawatts per hour of electricity per year, which is equivalent to the consumption of 23,800 homes. It will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 19,450 tons a year.
Trina Solar's President of International Systems Business, Mr. You Hongming, said getting President Duque to cut the ribbon for inauguration was a great honor for the company.
"The President's recognition of Trina Solar's contribution to Colombia's renewable energy business motivates us enormously. Trina Solar's International Systems Business Unit has worked to cultivate its activities in Latin America for many years, has accumulated fantastic vision and built a strong and experienced project execution team. Our people completed the second phase of the 'Los Llanos' project and achieved the connection to the electricity grid in just four months, this is a remarkable achievement given the difficult circumstances caused by COVID-19."
Trina Solar's International Systems Business Director for Latin America, Rubén Borja, said: "President Duque's attendance at the ceremony increases our confidence in the Colombian solar market. Our team is now giving everything to complete the next stages of the 'Los Llanos' project, which will have an installed capacity of around 52 Megawatts/p."
The project in total will install more than 200,000 high-power, high-reliability double-glazed modules, along with Vanguard Tracker Solutions. The perfect adaptation of Trina Solar's panels and tracking system can reduce the levelized cost of energy and provide customers with high efficiency, powerful power generation and higher returns on investment. As the world's leading provider of end-to-end smart PV solutions, Trina Solar offers customers around the world a suite of integrated solutions including products, power plant development, design and EPC management services.
