Colombia. A total of 200 cylinders with HCFC R22 refrigerant gas were seized by National Police Officials, through the Fiscal and Customs Police, in coordination with the Sectional Customs Directorate of the city of Barranquilla, in the north of that country.
Additionally, the 20 cylinders seized did not have the supporting documentation that would prove their legal entry into the country.
The operation occurred through the immobilization of a truck carrying the element, which was circulating on 37th Street with Carrera 50.
The merchandise valued at 160 million pesos (about US$44 thousand) was made available to the Directorate of National Taxes and Customs in the enclosure enabled for safekeeping and storage, contributing to the protection of the ozone layer.
Within the framework of the strategy against smuggling, illicit trade and tax evasion, the Barranquilla Fiscal and Customs Police reported that it is carrying out forceful actions to prevent the illegal commercialization of refrigerant gases and makes invitations to citizens to denounce this type of activities.
