Colombia. The UTO 1400 Model, a photo-air purifier equipment, developed by the company Ambientes Puros IAQ, received positive results after an analysis of the antiviral activity against the SARS-CoV-2 virus carried out by the University of Antioquia (UdeA).
The test performed directly with the strain of the SARS COV2 virus (directly with the pathogen) had a significant antiviral effect, inactivating 99.99% of the infectious viral particles exposed for 5 minutes to the prototype, confirming its viricidal effect in the times and conditions described.
The immunovirology group of the UdeA has been recognized for more than 30 years worldwide and managed to isolate the strain of the SARS COV2 virus, a fact that was recognized as a great scientific achievement worldwide. This is the first time that a test of this type has been performed with Photocatalysis in Colombia.
As an important fact, Ambientes Puros confirmed that the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce granted the patent to this development as a Colombian invention this year.
