International. Reliable Controls announced that it has been chosen as one of canada's greenest employers, headquarters of the company specializing in automation systems.
Through a statement, the company explained its day-to-day process at the Canadian headquarters.
Reliable Controls provides simple and flexible control systems that balance the comfort, efficiency and sustainability of buildings around the world. Our commitment to a triple bottom line of people, planet and profits informs all aspects of daily operations, including providing a healthy and socially responsible work environment.
A day in the life of a Reliable Controls employee begins before arriving at our LEED Platinum certified facility in Victoria. Team members are encouraged to use alternative transportation to get to work, with financial incentives to bike, walk, carpool, and use public transportation. Once they arrive at the office, employees can adjust the lighting levels and thermal comfort in their workspace using a smartphone app. The building automation system controls everything from our natural light harvesting system, underfloor heating and air quality sensors to integrated watershed management and energy efficiency systems.
Complimentary locally sourced coffees and teas are provided in all coffee and kitchen areas. As part of the Reliable Controls wellness program, employees can access an on-site gym or receive a subsidized gym membership depending on the office in which they work.
We believe in the importance of social responsibility and giving back to the community. To achieve this goal, Reliable Controls offers team members up to 16 hours of paid time off per year to volunteer at any approved registered charity.
Reliable Controls is proud to be an ISO 9001 and 14001 certified organization. We use an environmental and quality management system to help with the company's environmental objectives and, as part of our commitment to LEED certification, we have implemented a sustainable purchasing policy.
The products we manufacture in Victoria follow the WEEE, RoHS 2 and R2 directives, which set targets for the collection, recycling and recovery of electrical goods and restrict the use of certain hazardous materials in electrical and electronic products. Our robust composting and recycling program diverts waste from landfills and helps reduce our environmental impact.
Canada's Greenest Employers, an initiative of Canada's best employers, recognizes employers who lead the nation in creating a culture of environmental awareness. Winning employers are evaluated on four main criteria:
Your environmental initiatives and programs
- The extent to which they have succeeded in reducing their environmental footprint
- The degree to which your employees participate in these programs and whether they contribute unique skills
- The extent to which these initiatives have been linked to the employer's public identity, attracting new employees and customers
- Reliable Controls employees leave work at the end of each day knowing that their work is important to them, to themselves and to people and to the health of the planet.
