United States. Malco Products, manufacturer of tools for professional use, celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2020. The company, which markets for Latin America, celebrated its anniversary at its stand at the last AHR Expo in Orlando.
Malco's history of innovation over the years stems from a culture of continuous improvement and a commitment to producing tools to save durable quality workmanship and performance.
In 1950, Mark Keymer, a young steel supply salesman, started Malco Products in his garage, manufacturing and marketing a tube press to install metal ducts in heating systems. Since then, Malco has insisted on the same high-quality construction, manufacturing "tools of the trade" for professionals in the HVAC, exterior remodeling, installation of fences, covers and rails and repair and repair of bodies.
For the past seven decades, Malco has focused on new product development, responding to the needs of the emerging market for specialty products, and continually relies on feedback from hard-working trade professionals who use the tools day in and day out. The following are just a few of the products Malco has introduced over the years:
• Closing screws: The ultra-fast "Zip-in" self-drilling sheet metal screw was inspired by the aggressive thread profile of a drywall screw. Introduced in the 1970s, Zip-in screws are faster-driving, with a greater ability to hold heavier sheet metal calibers than any other type of self-drilling for fixing metal HVAC ducts.
• TurboShear Line: The introduction in 2003 of the original "TurboShear" drilling accessory was a game-changer in the HVAC market. Today, Malco manufactures 24 different TurboShear drilling accessories and pneumatic tools for cutting and manufacturing a wide range of building materials and metal sheets.
• Reversible and Cleanable Hex Drill Bit Holder Controller (C-RHEX): Launched in 2017, the best-selling C-RHEX bit holder controller for maintenance technicians and HVAC is a double-sided magnetic hexagon controller developed to be washable and reversible. The C-RHEX eliminates the problematic buildup of metal chips on the hexagonal tip with an easy-to-clean magnet and the proven pair of the reversible hexagonal mandrel controller design is equal to the one-piece controllers.
"We are proud to celebrate this important milestone in Malco's history," said Malco President and Chief Operating Officer Mardon Quandt. "We look forward to continuing a culture of innovation and promoting occupational safety and health for professionals for the next 70 years."
