Argentina. Last Saturday, the government of Jujuy presented the completion of the works that complete the construction of the so-called largest solar energy park in Latin America, which will allow the completion of the corresponding system tests to begin injecting energy into the Argentine interconnected system.
The works correspond to the Cauchari Solar I complex, which is added to the other two that are part of the project, Cauchari II and III, in which the technical stage had already been completed and presented at the beginning of October, and total a production capacity of 312 megawatts.
"This project is 100% Jujuy, it has to work and continue to grow. Now comes the challenge of expanding capacities by 200 megawatts," said governor Gerardo Morales, when leading the presentation of the works in the department of Susques.
Meanwhile, he raised the need to advance in the construction of new transport lines of 500 megawatts, to expand the capacity of renewable energy generation up to 1,100 megawatts. "If we work on this aspect, if we are intelligent and if they do not put our foot on our heads, we will have more energy generation, more work and more resources for Jujuy," he said.
Cauchari stressed that a 96 megawatt generation project agreed with the province's energy distribution company, Ejesa, is also on the agenda, for which "there are four international banking entities willing to finance it." "The project is ready and will be one of the issues to be discussed with the new President of the Nation, to bring dollars to the country next year," he said.
On the other hand, he referred to the income that the solar plant will report and indicated that "they will be in the order of 1,000 million dollars in 15 years", which will allow to face projects already diagrammed, such as the request for a loan for improvements in infrastructure and educational quality throughout the provincial territory.
