International. Nortek Air Solutions has introduced the CDU1200, a 1,200 kW refrigerant distribution unit (CDU) that the company calls a very powerful and compact CDU, and the latest addition to its ServerCool data center liquid cooling product line.
The CDU1200 provides a cooling capacity of 1.2 MW at a density of 14.6 ft2 (1.3 m2) which helps achieve optimal power use effectiveness (PUE). The CDU1200 is a liquid retrofit cooling solution for high-performance computing centers (HPCs) and enterprise data centers, as well as colocation, corporate networking, governance, research, and other data center formats. In an era where liquid cooling is required to support the increasing power densities of chips, the kW/ft2 capacity of the CDU1200 is unrivaled in direct comparison to competing products.
The CDU1200's compatibility with existing ServerCool CDUS, such as the 300 kW CD6 floor mount and the 50 kW CD5 rack-mount, enables modular growth of existing systems. The CDU1200's superior pumping power also allows it to be placed outside of the blank.
The CDU1200's highly efficient heat exchange technology thermally transfers cooling from the primary circuit to the liquid cooling circuit of the secondary circuit for distribution to the IT rack cold boards.
The CDU1200 offers two redundant 15 hp stainless steel pumps with many energy-efficient features including electronic switching (EC) motors and variable frequency inverters that efficiently modulate optimal performance flow rates for system capacity of 320 gpm (1,211-L/m).
The water purity of the system is optimized with a washable 50 micron filter and an optional system for sterilizing biological contaminants with ultraviolet (UV) light.
