International. ASHRAE announced the launch of a website to encourage the advancement of refrigeration technology and its application.
The new Refrigeration website, dubbed "R" at ASHRAE, highlights the Society's commitment to supporting the role of refrigeration worldwide. The website contains information on refrigeration and refrigerant resources and publications, such as standards, design guides, ASHRAE courses and more.
During her tenure, ASHRAE 2018-2019 President Sheila J. Hayter, P.E., appointed ASHRAE IX Regional Director and Regional President Trent Hunt to oversee a Board Task Force on Refrigeration. One of the primary outcomes of this task force was the launch of the cooling page.
"ASHRAE has a long history of supporting refrigeration research and technology," Hayter said. "This page incorporates ASHRAE's past in refrigeration, while keeping visitors abreast of our current goals and leading the conversation about the future of refrigeration. We are confident that this page will be a powerful resource for industry professionals and the general public alike."
Additional features of the website include:
- ASHRAE approval for refrigeration and refrigerant conferences and events.
- Refrigerant designations.
- Interviews with members in the field of refrigeration.
- Research and news on topics related to refrigeration.
Recently, ASHRAE and the International Refrigeration Institute (IIR) announced the establishment of new definitions for five refrigeration keywords, further highlighting the importance of the refrigeration process for the health, comfort and well-being of humanity.
