International. ASHRAE will hold on April 17 and 18 the webcast called: The future of refrigerants: unitary systems and VRF.
The webcast will run for two hours and will be broadcast live on two different days and times for the convenience of the global audience. The broadcast will be live on April 17, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. EDT and on April 18, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. EDT.
"Our webcast presenters will offer insight into how the refrigerant industry will meet the needs of installed split and packaged system air conditioners and, specifically, VRF systems," said StevePiccolo, chair of the Webcast's Ad Hoc Committee. "We look forward to exposing attendees to this expanding refrigerant technology in the design, performance and application of DX air conditioner equipment (including VRF) and explaining why low GWP refrigerant is a necessary option."
Opening remarks are given by ASHRAE 2018-2019 President Sheila J. Hayter, P.E.
Attendees will learn:
- How the refrigerant industry will meet the needs of installed split and packaged system air conditioners, specifically VRF systems
- Future trends in the design, performance and application of DX air conditioners [including VRF]
- The future of low-GWP refrigerant options for unit products, whether refrigerant modernization is possible in the future, and how to recognize the challenges and best practices for working with flammable refrigerants
The webcast presenters are:
- Sarah Kim, Ph.D., ASHRAE, Scientist/Project Leader, Arkema Fluorochemicals, Philadelphia, Pa.
- Stephen "Steve" Kujak, ASHRAE, Director, Next Generation Refrigeration Research, Ingersoll Rand, Onalaska, Wis.
- Douglas Tucker, ASHRAE, Director of Industry and Government Relations, Mitsubishi Electric US (MEUS), Suwanee, Ga.
- Webcast participants can receive two Professional Development Hours (PDH) or two Learning Units (LU/HSW) awarded by the American Institute of Architects (AIA), or two SCs from Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI).
