International. Victaulic announced the launch of the QuickVic SD Installation-Ready system, a flat-ended pipe joining technology designed for use in carbon steel pipes for 10 to 80 in diameters from 1/2" to 2" (DN15-DN50) in commercial or industrial HVAC systems.
The product line offers significant savings in total installation cost compared to traditional piping materials and installation methods, such as copper pressing or welding and pressed or threaded steel.
"As preferences for the materials used for piping systems continue to evolve, Victaulic is committed to providing innovative solutions for its customers to reduce project cost, improve durability and make installation and maintenance more efficient," said Scott Stewart. product manager at Victaulic. "The QuickVic SD system is the latest proof of that commitment, offering our first mechanical pipe joining solution for HVAC industry customers who are in the process, or have already completed, the transition to carbon steel pipe two inches in diameter and less."
Copper pipe is often the material of choice for small-diameter HVAC systems, but it presents unique challenges for contractors who face high prices and shrinking material in the workplace. With the QuickVic SD system, they can transition to carbon steel pipe with confidence, and as a result can reduce material costs, simplify project management, and decrease financial risk.
"The price of copper pipe can be up to 60% higher than that of carbon steel for small-diameter HVAC projects," Stewart added. "Our new QuickVic SD system allows customers to choose steel, a more economical material, while maintaining an installation speed similar to those offered by pressed copper systems."
The family's full product line includes Installation-Ready couplings, fittings, valves, and the PC3110 Cut & Mark tool. Available in sizes from 1/2" – 2" /DN15 to DN50, the products can be used in carbon steel pipe from 10 to 80, with a maximum operating pressure of 300 psi/2068 kPa/21 bar and maximum temperature up to 120°C/250°F (with EPDM packing).
The PC3110 Cut & Mark tool allows the user to simultaneously cut and mark carbon steel pipe from 10 to 80 cards. Leave two marks on the end of the tube to indicate the correct insertion depth for the correct installation of QuickVic SD couplings/connections. The first marker indicates the correct insertion depth for 1/2" – 1 1/4" products; the second for products of 1 1/2" – 2".
