United States. A 205,000-square-foot cold storage project was recently completed in Sioux Falls, a region of the state of South Dakota. The new warehouse includes more than 30,000 pallet positions and 1,100 positions of the QF + IN-Rack freezing system from Tippmann Innovation, the company in charge of the project.
The installation, made for the firm Win Chill Cold Storage is equipped with 16 cargo doors and is also served by rail.
As demand for cold storage in Sioux Falls continued to increase during the early stages of construction, Win Chill realized that with projected customer commitments, the warehouse would be filled to completion of the building. As a result, the owners of Win Chill began planning with Tippmann Innovation engineers to design a phase two expansion. Tippmann Innovation recently initiated the second phase which is scheduled to be completed in December this year. The second phase will include a 126,000-square-foot freezer addition with 9 cargo doors and 18,900 pallet positions.
Tippmann Innovation partnered with Win Chill in the second phase. The rapid growth of the region's food processing market is causing a delay in the demand for storage space by local and regional food processors. The Win Chill facility exceeded the expectations of the Sioux Falls Development Foundation due to the continued evolution of its major project at Foundation Park.
"We are excited about the continued development of this project. The owners of Win Chill have been very committed to the construction of this new facility and were ready to move forward with the expansion when the opportunity presented itself." Rob Adams, Innovation Partner at Tippmann.
