International. Experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) will give presentations during the Chillventa exhibition (October 16-18) on current research topics as part of the forum on heat pumps, and will be available for direct discussion later in the special exhibition area "Heat pumps, one key technology for the successful energy transition".
Heating and cooling account for about 40 percent of all German energy consumption. Indoor heating and hot water play an important role in this, accounting for more than 80 percent of energy consumption in homes. Therefore, there is an urgent need to cover heating and, increasingly, cooling requirements in the most efficient and sustainable way possible. Heat pumps represent a key technology that helps meet these requirements.
The market for heat pumps for single-family homes and townhouses is growing; however, the market for commercial and industrial applications in Germany could benefit from further expansion. Also in trade and industry, heating and cooling of buildings, as well as process optimization play an important role. Heat pumps meet these requirements and are an important factor in integrated energy, which is essential for the success of the energy transition. Still, there are a number of important R&D tasks to overcome.
Experts from the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE) will give presentations on the following topics at the Heat Pumps forum:
• Heat pumps in the power system
• Development of components and devices
• TestLab of Heat pumps and chillers
• Development of materials and coatings
• System analysis and optimization
• Measurement campaigns
• Testing and certification
