International. Siemens is currently launching a new smart headquarters which is located in the city of Milan, Italy, and has more than 15,000 square meters of extension.
The building is classified as a Class A green building that was made according to the LEED GOLD protocol and fully automated to make the most of resources and minimize energy use. The infrastructure works thanks to a platform that comprehensively manages all systems: from heating to fire protection.
In terms of air conditioning, HVAC controllers have more than 1,500 sensors installed to which must be added another 150 sensors for perimeter security. Desigo Room Automation is in charge of the comfort of the environments controlling and regulating the temperature, the humidity of the air, the intensity of the lighting with the aim of achieving the maximum level of climatic well-being with an eye always on energy saving.
Electricity production will also be ensured by a trigeneration plant, which can also contribute to the thermal load required for heating and cooling in an efficient and sustainable manner. The synchronization between the electric charge and the programmable production, to maximize self-consumption, is achieved thanks to an electrochemical storage system of 135 kWh – 270 kW.
In the month of June, a park of 25 thousand square meters will be inaugurated that will have a "green ring" for walking, wi-fi stations to work outdoors and areas to relax such as gardens or a shared urban garden.
