Colombia. Last December, the launch workshop of the Building Efficiency Accelerator Program (BEA Program) of the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley (AMVA) of Medellín was held.
Its purpose is to accelerate the implementation of comprehensive sustainability solutions in the existing buildings in this city and in the municipalities that make up the region.
The AMVA's Bea Program, in particular, will develop business model options to increase energy efficiency in existing buildings and will be developed jointly by the AMVA, the Colombian Council for Sustainable Construction (CCCS) and the World Resources Institute (WRI).
At the launch event, Eugenio Prieto Soto, Director of the Metropolitan Area of the Aburrá Valley, stressed that for the region the joint work with these two important entities of the national and international order is aligned with an institutional route drawn up to achieve the articulation of different actors that contribute to the transformation of the region towards sustainability.
For her part, Cristina Gamboa, Executive Director of the CCCS commented that "by committing to the BEA Program, the Aburrá Valley will register important benefits, product of the reduction in costs associated with energy consumption and the creation of new markets for innovative energy solutions".
