International. Johnson Controls announced that it has entered into an agreement with the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) as its first partner in the Regional Network of the Americas. The WorldGBC Americas Regional Network represents a community of 19 national Sustainable Building Councils (GBCs) and thousands of affiliated companies in North, Central and South America.
In 2017, the Regional Network of the Americas will focus on supporting cities for the development of efficiency policies in partnership with the World Resources Institute, through the exchange of green school best practices with the Inter-American Development Bank, strengthening global business in favor of sustainable construction.
"Progressive and successful GBCs in the Americas are driving market demand for increasingly sustainable buildings and communities. At Johnson Controls we are proud to be the first partner of the World Green Building Council's Regional Network of the Americas. We will engage in conversations that highlight the economic, social and environmental benefits of green building as a critical platform for creating smarter, safer and more sustainable cities," said Clay Nesler, vice president of Industry Relations at Johnson Controls.
Dominika Czerwinska, Director of Regional Memberships and Networks at WorldGBC said: "Johnson Controls is a true global leader in green building and broader sustainability initiatives, as evidenced by its inclusion in more than 40 sustainability indices in recent years."
Johnson Controls' commitment to sustainability dates back to 1885, when Warren Johnson, the company's founder, invented the first electric environmental thermostat. Today, 130 years later, the company maintains its commitment to the protection of people and the environment and remains at the forefront by promoting technologies, knowledge and conversations to promote the efficient use of resources among its customers.
