United States. Daikin Texas Technology Park, Daikin North America's new $417 million campus located just outside Northwest Houston, welcomed the first VRV unit assembled there during a celebration led by CEO Takeshi Ebisu.
The event was attended by Daikin employees from multiple departments, as well as senior company leaders. At a ceremony that brought together about a thousand employees at the factory, a deep sense of pride was evident among the audience. Ebisu commented, "It is Daikin's vision to expand production and customer awareness of VRV technology in North America. I would like to thank everyone involved in this project, from engineering and manufacturing to logistics, sales and marketing for making this vision possible."
Daikin's VRV technology is not entirely new in North America. Daikin introduced VRV units in 2005 with products imported from Japan and Europe. In February 2014, Daikin was the first HVAC manufacturer to operate assembly lines for outdoor VRV units in North America with limited production in Houston, TX. Now with the opening of Daikin's new campus in Waller, Texas, the production of current VRV units, as well as the development of new product designs, "will dramatically increase productivity by 22% and delivery time will decrease substantially in order to respond to customer demand," said Mr. Kou Ishitani, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing at Daikin.
Daikin Texas Technology Park (DTTP) is the largest tilt-wall industrial building in the world, and the second largest factory in North America. Only Boeing's huge aircraft assembly plant in Everett is larger.
