Honduras. The Hanes Choloma sewing plant, a company located in the northern part of Honduras in Central America, used UVC in the equipment that supplies air conditioning to the production plant, which has represented a series of benefits for the company and its employees in terms of indoor air quality (CAI).
The benefit is given by the automatic cleaning of the coils of the divided systems whose evaporators of 40 tons of refrigeration have installed the UVC emitters of Steril Aire. These radiate over the surface of the coil uniformly removing the biofilm growing in the coil and in more than 99% of the viruses, bacteria, spores and mold in the air thus helping to reduce the transmission in the plant of contagious diseases.
Steril Aire's UVC emitters also provide energy savings in the system, as by keeping the coil where heat transfer takes place always clean, compressor cycling time tends to be better. The frequency with which maintenance is carried out also sees a significant improvement, since the evaporators are located in an area above the false sky of confined space and difficult access.
About two thousand people work in the Hanes Choloma sewing plant, which is why this application turned out to be very important from the point of view of occupational health, in addition to the improvements seen in maintenance. Eng. Franklin Turcios, Maintenance Manager of Hanes Choloma expresses his pleasure about Steril Aire's UVC emitters: "Steril Aire provides solutions to improve indoor air quality through the use of its powerful ultraviolet emitter".
In this installation, UVC Kit systems were used for handlers with electronic ballasts and SE emitters 30 inches long. Through this arrangement it was possible to obtain the necessary level of irradiation on the surface of the coils of the evaporators to destroy the formation of mold and biofilm. Thus guaranteeing the success of the application.
Steril-Air's Very High Power emitters provide benefits that directly affect the user, staff, customers and of course equipment as well.
