International. Impacted by the economic slowdown in China – the industry leader in the world – the global chiller market began to decline and recorded a continuous drop in its growth rate.
Based on BSRIA (Uk Testing, Instrumentation, Research and Consulting Organization) data, the scale of the global chiller market was US$8.46 billion in 2014, an increase of 0.6% since 2013.
By type, centrifugal chillers reached $2.16 billion; reciprocating, screw and scroll chillers reached US$5.39 billion; and absorption chillers over 350 kW achieved $0.91 billion in revenue.
According to the study, there continues to be a change from reciprocating coolers to screw and scroll coolers. Water-cooled screw coolers cost less than centrifugal coolers in terms of manufacturing, and many high-efficiency models have been developed in small and medium tonnage ranges. Therefore, screw coolers are proving to be a formidable competitor to centrifugal coolers.
