Argentina. The Ministry of Environment reported that it has regulated the Renewable Energy Law. Law 27.191/15 "National promotion regime for the use of renewable energy sources for the production of electrical energy", with which it seeks to increase the participation of renewable sources in national electricity.
The Law expects to increase the implementation of renewable energies to 8% in 2017 and 20% in 2025, because currently only 1% of this class of electricity generation sources are being used.
This law will provide the possibility of progressing in the diversification of the electricity matrix through sources such as wind, biomass and solar, in order to achieve the goals mentioned above, and apply policies of rational and efficient use of energy that aim to reduce unnecessary consumption by at least 25% by 2030.
According to the state, the increase in the use of other energy sources will allow it to save about US $ 2,500 million until 2020, from a reduction in future demand for fuels for generation and a decrease in the cost of investment in power plants.
