Spain. Due to the high temperatures that were recorded during the past months of July and August in the Iberian country, being the highest in the last 40 years, the demand for air conditioning equipment has increased reaching numbers that did not occur since 2012.
Data collected by the main surfaces show that at the beginning of July 80% more air conditioning systems were sold than those that were marketed in the same space of time in 2014. Even some warehouses recorded that their products were sold out.
However, the increase in the use of this equipment has also meant that the consumption of electricity has skyrocketed to reach the same records of years such as 2011, according to the Red Eléctrica de España (REE).
A significant fact has also been the great request for budgets received from the northern part of the Peninsula, where, traditionally, due to the geographical position and climate that characterizes these regions, the sale and installation of air conditioning equipment is less common than in the center and south of the country.
In addition to the increase in sales, firms such as Daikin and its subsidiary in Spain have shown an increase in people who have entered the company's website during the months of June and July, consulting for technologies or air conditioning solutions. During these months, the number of visits has tripled compared to last year.
