International. Toshiba Corp. and United Technologies Corp. (UTC) announced plans to establish engineering centers in India, North America and Europe to support global innovation in HVAC products.
This cooperation is the first result of the recent agreement of both companies to strengthen their strategic collaboration through a joint project, Toshiba Carrier Corp. (TCC).
The plan will leverage Carrier's global footprint with new engineering centers expected to be built over the next five years. The two companies also agreed on plans to locate manufacturing in the same regions in a similar time period.
The establishment of joint engineering and manufacturing centers will give Toshiba local product development, manufacturing and sales in key regions, which will increase our global presence, while allowing us to offer customers greater value through localized solutions. At Toshiba, our diverse capabilities range from devices like batteries to inverter technologies, and I hope this HVAC collaboration will become an engine that will drive future cooperation between Toshiba and UTC and further strengthen the ties between us," said Hisao Tanaka, President and CEO of Toshiba Corp.
