Mexico. Trane published a list of recommendations to select the best heating solution and stay warm during the winter that in Mexico will go until May 15 of this year. The cold fronts will mainly affect the northern, central, Gulf of Mexico and Yucatan Peninsula states; however, low temperatures are expected in virtually the entire country.
- Cold fronts are meteorological phenomena that correspond to the movement of a mass of cold air from the pole towards the equator. This causes the temperature to drop, heavy rain, intense wind and even frost. The recommendation is to plan ahead how to enjoy winter in a warm home.
- The following are options to consider when selecting the best heating solution for each home and budget, always taking into account that an efficient system reduces the cost of energy expenditure and decreases the environmental impact:
- Gas heating equipment. It is one of the solutions that are used most for its reliability and efficiency. They also integrate filters to trap dust, smoke, lint, pet hair, pollen and other particles that could be harmful to health. These solutions generate clean air by removing up to 99.98 percent of allergens. These new systems monitor internal and external temperatures to configure your operation in a more efficient way. Gas-based solutions also offer alerts that let you know when a filter needs to be changed or maintenance is needed.
- Oil-based heating systems. They have variable speed fan motor so they give a constant flow of warm and comfortable air. In addition, its operation is silent to have a better experience.
- Heat pumps. They maximize efficiency for variable climates like Mexico. During the winter they keep the heat inside a room, while during the summer they draw out the warm air to maintain a more moderate temperature.
- All-in-one heating systems. They provide heating and cooling in a single unit that can be electric, gas and electric based, or with dual fuel option. They are also variable speed and quiet operation.
- Heating coil. Provides heating and cooling with quiet operation. Trane designed its heating coils with the industry's first aluminum interior battery, which is corrosion resistant and allows for easier cleaning.
- Geothermal systems. Central heating and/or cooling solution that transfers heat from or to the ground. Thus, the power of the earth is used at home as a source of heat thanks to a coil that absorbs or dissipates heat, depending on the season, to create a really comfortable environment.
Tips to create a warm atmosphere at home
- Program your air conditioning system at 18°C during the winter and 25°C in summer.
- Periodically check your heating equipment for maintenance and verify that its use is optimal.
- Turn off the heater before sleeping. The time it was on during the day is usually enough to maintain a warm atmosphere at night.
- Take advantage of sunlight. In the mornings open curtains and blinds to allow the passage of the sun's rays, even if it is little you will feel the difference in your home. When dark, close blinds and curtains to keep the heat that came in during the day.
- Place thicker and warmer fabric curtains or blinds that provide warmth during the winter.
- Install double glazed windows. This will achieve a thermal effect on your home.
- Integrate wooden windows or plastic products. Although they are less conductive materials than aluminum, well used and sealed, they will also provide comfort in your living spaces.
- Close all air intakes tightly. In doors and windows you can use silicone, for example, so that they are better sealed.
- Implement thermal walls, for example, adobe, or special ceilings (which are also acoustic). Wallpaper also achieves greater warmth.
- Paint your home with insulating and thermal products. Today there is a wide variety of paints and waterproofing that provide these characteristics; some are based on recycled tires or use materials such as unicel.
