International. The HVAC/R system manufacturer is celebrating its 90th anniversary under its slogan "Since 1924 Daikin makes people happy! (Since 1924 Daikin has made people happy)."
In 1924, Mr. Akira Yamada established Daikin by creating "Osaka Kinzoku Kogyosho Limited Partnership", a metal manufacturer that produced radiator tubes for aircraft. The company soon began to specialize in industrial air conditioning systems and has since grown to become one of the most important companies in the manufacture of air conditioning systems.
Daikin has been at the forefront of technological innovation since it began manufacturing refrigeration systems and refrigerators in the 1930s. He launched a number of industry "pioneers", including the first heat air conditioning pump in 1958 and the first VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) system in 1982, which was able to supply air conditioning from multiple indoor units connected to a single outdoor unit.
In 1999, the company launched Ururu Sarara, the first split air conditioner in the world capable of controlling room humidity without an external water source. The system was updated in 2013 to become the first residential air conditioner to use the next generation of R32 refrigerant, helping to reduce its environmental impact. In 2006, it introduced the Daikin Altherma range of air-water heat pumps for domestic heating and hot water, which was expanded with a hybrid land-source heat pump in 2014.
Daikin continues to innovate with the launch earlier this year of the VRV IV heat recovery system, a solution for buildings up to 28% more efficient than the previous generation of VRV, more flexible and easy to install.
Daikin's success over these 90 years has been its focus on developing high-energy-efficient, high-quality HVAC solutions for commercial, industrial and residential applications. Listen to and meet customer needs, technological innovation and the Daikin in the market.
Today, the company has sales operations in more than 130 countries and 60 manufacturing facilities worldwide. The company's portfolio has grown in recent years through strategic acquisitions, including OYL Industries, parent company of McQuay International; AAF International and J&E Hall in 2006. The German company Rotex in 2008, as well as the Turkish company Airfel and the American Goodman in 2011.
