Paraguay. As revealed by the Paraguayan Chamber of Refrigeration and Mechanical Ventilation (Caparev), the import of air conditioning systems increased during the current year by 39%.
During 2013, the CIF value of imports was US$78.9 million, which exceeded the US$56.7 million in 2012. However, this mark does not exceed the values registered in 2010 (US$ 79.5 million) and 2011 (US$ 84.9 million).
Caparev estimates that the progress of the sector in his country has been slowed by the decrease in public surpluses that have been presented since last June, and that the growth is mainly due to private construction.
Adriana Manchini, president of Caparev, commented that "the summer season is the most important for the sector. This year, unusually, we are ending November and we still don't feel strong heat. For this reason, the sell-off has not yet taken off, but we believe that in the coming months it will recover."
