United States. Ashrae recently concluded its annual conference in Denver, an event that attracted more than 1,900 attendees, the highest in more than a decade.
Attendees observed the offerings available at the Ashrae Bookstore during the annual conference. In the opening plenary session, the association kicked off the conference with the launch of the AshraexChange, an online discussion platform that allows users to post and generate debate on general and specific topics.
In addition, Ashrae announced that the Advanced Power Design Guide has been downloaded more than 500,000 times, This is a publication designed to provide recommendations on improving energy savings when compared to the minimum requirements of ANSI/ASHRAE/IESNA Standard 90.1.
William P. "Bill" Bahnfleth, Ph.D., P.E., was appointed as the president of Ashrae for the period 2013-2014. His presentation at the annual conference focused on embracing our responsibility to the world, making buildings safer, healthier, more productive, and creating comfortable environments in harmony with nature.
The technical conferences were highly attended, where trends in data center design, the programs and facilities of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and the future of sustainable energy were discussed.
Two professional seminars and five short courses were also held by the Ashrae Learning Institute.
