Survey: 80% of employees would not be able to work without air conditioning

altSpain. According to a survey developed by the Spanish subsidiary of Daikin, among more than 200 employees (men and women) who work in different offices in Madrid, air conditioning has become an essential element to carry out their work comfortably.

According to the report, 80% of respondents say that they would not currently be able to work without air conditioning in their office in summer, although some point out that it is not necessary to use it throughout the day, since during the early hours of the morning you can be at a comfortable temperature just by opening the windows to create current. Regarding the temperature and thermal comfort in the office, 44% of the people who responded to the survey say they feel comfortable and enjoy a comfortable temperature to carry out their work. But, 43% say it is somewhat cold or even very cold, which indicates that an adequate adjustment of the temperature of the equipment in the office may not be made. In this sense, 35% affirm that the temperature in their office is usually between 23-24ºC (generally recommended); 27%, between 21-22ºC, and 8% comment that the air conditioning system usually has between 17-20ºC. When determining what they think the ideal temperature is, half of the respondents agree that it should be between 23ºC and 24ºC. Finally, the survey says that the temperature at which the air conditioner is in the office can become a source of conflict. Specifically, 65% of people say that sometimes a certain conflict arises, while 23% respond that it is always a conflictive issue.
