Chile. The Santiago Metro advanced the Summer Plan 2013 with which it seeks to reinforce the current ventilation conditions and mitigate the heat generated in the network, due to the proximity of the summer season and the increase in temperatures in the capital.
The Metro promoted measures to install new megafans for Las Rejas and Pedro de Valdivia stations, progressively incorporated more air-conditioned trains, and the commissioning of 100% of the fans with nebulizers, as well as the summer doors on the NS74 trains for Lines 2 and 5.

Among the actions promoted by Metro, the installation of megafans in Las Rejas and Pedro de Valdivia stations is contemplated during the first and second half of November, respectively, allowing to improve ventilation in these points, through the reduction of the temperature from 3 to 5 ° C during a working day and at rush hour.
The two new stations will add 32 megafans (16 in each) of a diameter of 1.2 meters each, grouped in panels, all for an investment of $ 380 million. In this way, and considering these interventions, Metro's investment in the last six years to improve temperature standards is around $2.83 billion.
In the case of fans with nebulizers, these operate with microfiltered drinking water, it will reduce the temperature by up to 6°C within a range of 2 to 3 meters.
