Japan/Mexico. The Japanese firm Mitsubishi Corp reported that it will acquire a 34% stake in the wind energy project known as Marena Renovables and that is materializing in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec sector in the state of Oaxaca.
The wind power project valued at about $1 billion will be the largest in Latin America for its total production capacity of 396 megawatts, thanks to its installations of 132 windmills.
The Japanese company reported that in the project that would start operations in July next year, it will work with the partners of the Macquarie Mexico Infrastructure Fund and the Dutch pension fund service provider PGGM.
According to Mitsubishi in an official statement, the energy production of the new center will be supplied to a Mexican unit of the Dutch beer company Heineken NV and the Mexican firm Femsa, under a 20-year contract.
