United States. Shipments of central air conditioners and heat pumps in the United States totaled 232,722 units in November 2011, according to data provided by the Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI).
Although the accumulated results of 2011 reflected a positive balance, with an increase of 9% in the number of shipments, the figures presented during November revealed a decrease of 19% compared to those made in that same month the previous year, going from 179,647 units of air conditioners to 145,789 in 2011. In the section of heat pumps there was also a decrease, in this case of 20%, going from 108,029 units sent in November 2010 to 86,933 in the same month of 2011. The accumulated of the year reflected a significant increase, since from 4,826,864 units sent in 2010 it went to 5,237,726 units in 2011 in the section of residential central air conditioning. As for heat pumps, the figures show an increase of 3%, going from 1,613,535 in 2010 to 1,666,470 units shipped during 2011.
