Argentina. As indicated by the year-on-year comparative study of the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of the Argentine Republic (Indec), on the sale of household appliances during the second quarter of 2011, as of June of this year the sale of air conditioning equipment increased by 133.3%, compared to the same period of time in the previous year.
According to the public body, in general terms the appliances sector grew in the South American country by 6.7% compared to the same period in 2010.
The analysis indicates that turnover at current prices totaled about 4,250 million Argentine pesos (about US$1,010 million); this meant an 11.1% increase in sales of air conditioning equipment.
On the other hand, Indec reported that the set of gas and electric stoves, microwave and electric ovens, heaters, heaters and thermotanks registered an increase in sales of 38.4%.
