
As for electric water heaters, these increased in the last month of 2009 by 3% to 336,070 devices, compared to 326,945 in December 2008. In November 2009 this item presented a greater growth, 4% for 290,691 units, going from 280,019 in the same month of 2008.
Through 2009, U.S. shipments of residential gas water heaters fell 6 percent from 4,000,593 units in December 2008 to 3,760,657 units in December 2009, and in that same period remittances from electric heaters fell 10.4 percent from 4,189,451 units in December 2008 to 3,751,994 units in December 2009.
A 2% increase in the shipment of commercial gas water heaters in December 2009, from 6,182 units in December 2008 to 6,279 in the last month of 2009. In the immediately preceding month (November 2009) the shipment of these heaters increased by 16%, from 4,910 equipment in 2008 to 5,691 in 2009.
On the other hand, electric heaters fell 16% in the last month of 2009 with 4,053 equipment, 791 less than in 2008. The outlook of November 2009 was not the best, the remittance of these teams fell by 10%, going on to have 3,864 devices, compared to 4,292 in November 2008.
As of December 2009, shipments of commercial gas heaters fell by 14.5%, from 88,265 in the last month of 2008 to 75,487 in December 2009; and electricity decreased by 19% ending December 2009 with 55,625, 13,061 less than in 2008.
As for central air conditioners and heat pumps, shipments from U.S. factories in December 2009 were 342,948 units, 109,949 of which were heat pumps, up 44% compared to the same month in 2008. In November 2009 this item was 283,360, of which 100,816 were heat pumps.
Until December (2009) shipments of heat pumps decreased by 12% compared to the same month of 2008, and air conditioners also fell, by 11.4% from 3,968,044 units in December 2008 to 3,515,648 units in December 2009.
