Europe. Philips today announced a 2012 target for organic products to account for 30 percent of its total revenue, up from 15 percent in 2006, as part of a new global plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The Dutch electronics giant also set itself the goal of reducing the energy consumption of its operations by 25 percent by 2012, within the fourth EcoVision plan whose purpose is to reduce the energy intensity of its products and facilities, as explained in a statement.
The company has set itself as instruments to achieve these goals to double the investment in ecological innovations to reach one billion euros in the next five years.
The eco-friendly products will bring significant improvement in five areas that the company considers critical: energy consumption, packaging, harmful substances, weight, recycling and reliability throughout the life of the product. (Source: El Comercio).
