Argentina. While President Néstor Kirchner was with the highest authorities of the oil company Exxon Mobil in New York, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, finalized the details to close the storage center that Petrobras, the largest interested in esso's assets, has in Dock Sud.
The official advance was concretized and was part of the action plan to clean up the Matanza-Riachuelo basin. Recently, Shell suffered the closure of its refinery located in the same locality.
The closure "will remain effective until the company ceases the situation of danger to the environment and the physical integrity of the inhabitants in the area of the Matanza-Riachuelo Basin."
Despite the closure, it is estimated that the measure will not have consequences for the supply of naphthas and gas-oil in the domestic market. That's because environment did not order the total cessation of activities, as in the case of Shell.
