Colombia. The Colombia Chapter of Ashrae highlighted the recent visit made by Jim Newman, one of the most outstanding professionals in consulting on sustainability and energy saving issues and who was recently in Bogotá.
Over three days, Newman held five technical sessions with students and faculty from different universities who saw how the HVAC world works to improve the energy efficiency and environmental performance of buildings for years to come.
"It is good for Ashrae and for Colombia to involve critical partners and universities in our research for existing buildings and energy audits," said Fabio Clavijo, member of Ashrae and the Board of Directors of Acaire (Colombian Association of Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration).
During the second and third day of sessions, Newman presented a talk on transforming old buildings into high-performance facilities and on energy and sustainability in existing buildings, respectively.
"As we thanked Jim for his commitment on his visit, we realized how much we have learned through his experience and dedication. In addition, he already knows that the future activities of our region with his support will be welcome," Clavijo said.
