Textile ducts, installed in cannabis cultivation

ductos

Puerto Rico. In the town of Vega Alta, the company Og Biomed developed a "hybrid glass" house, which uses sunlight and electric lighting to mimic the natural environment of cannabis cultivation.

Puerto Rico becomes a challenging environment for the cultivation of this kind of plant due to pests and high levels of humidity in the country. To create the best growing conditions it is important to control humidity and temperature.

According to the company FabricAir, "traditional airflow solutions have the risk of condensation and consequently the proliferation of microorganisms harmful to plants. Fungal growth during the flowering process can result in a poor harvest or total crop loss."

It is for that reason that the facilities needed to establish a method to control humidity and temperature, as well as the correct climate control and ventilation necessary for each step of the indoor cultivation process.

Solution
FabricAir's engineering team worked with the industrial commercial technical team to propose an ideal textile duct system. The textile duct eliminates the risk of condensation through permeable fabrics and an antimicrobial treatment that eliminates any microorganisms that come into contact with the fabric.

The system offers a homogeneous air distribution through the crop area, providing the necessary residual velocity in the canopy of the plants. In the flowering stage 300 linear feet with a diameter of 20 – 24 inches were used for a total volume of 18,000 CFM.

Result
The brand assured that the implementation of its textile duct system produced an impressive result for Og Biomed's cannabis cultivation facilities in Puerto Rico. Overcoming the challenges posed by pests and moisture, the custom-designed airflow eliminated condensation and harmful microorganisms.

With the 300 linear feet of ducts ensuring consistent air distribution, the project is a solution and innovation for airflows in cannabis crop applications.
