Carrier
The technology can help reduce pathogens, particles and odors in the air, while saving energy and not generating harmful byproducts. Carrier partnered with Global Plasma Solutions (GPS), a global leader in ionization, to provide its patented NPBI technology to deliver cleaner indoor air.
Ionization produces a high concentration of positive and negative ions, delivering them into the space through the building's ventilation system. Within the air stream, ions adhere to the particles, where they combine and become larger, making it easier for them to filter from the air. When ions come into contact with pathogens, they disrupt proteins on the surface of pathogens leaving them inactive. Ions break down harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into harmless compounds such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and water vapor.
On the other hand, needle tip bipolar ionization (NPBI) contains no harmful by-products and is safe to use in commercial, industrial and residential buildings. It also disperses ions directly into the air. NPBI needle points are made of a carbon fiber material that does not wear or deteriorate over time and requires no maintenance. NPBI systems are designed for easy use, maximum comfort and optimal long-term performance. Programmable self-cleaning products clean carbon fiber.
