Lennox's new SunSource Commercial Energy Systems HVAC is a commercial HVAC unit that integrates with a solar energy system. This unit directly collects energy from the sun and powers an Energence – solar units on rooftops – supplying electricity to the rest of the building or power grid.The SunSource system is designed to reduce energy costs in businesses and will allow more power to be generated than the rooftop unit consumes, and it is safer to operate than traditional solar energy systems since it eliminates a dc high-voltage cable line. Each output of the microinverter is limited to 50 volts and, in the event of an energy loss, the microinverters stop transmitting power to the roof and the main panel of the building.
The installation of this system can be done on roofs of any type or size and, the production of real-time solar modules that is recorded by a communications gateway, allows the monitoring of system performance from anywhere through an Internet connection.
