A total of 38 municipalities in the province of Huelva will participate from Monday in the II Provincial Week of Sustainable Energy, promoted by the Provincial Council of Huelva within the Sustainable Energy for Europe Campaign.
In a press release, the deputy of Environment and Alternative Energies of the Diputación de Huelva, María José Cortil, has pointed out that this Week "aims to sensitize citizens in the promotion of energy saving and promotion of renewable energies".
To this end, an intense program of activities will be developed, both by the Provincial Council and by the City Councils that participate in the campaign. Thus, four regional days will be held in Jabugo, Minas de Riotinto, Alosno and the School Farm of the Diputación de Huelva within the framework of the Sustainable Energy Action Plans (PAES).
In the Regional Day of the Sierra, to be held in Jabugo on the 25th, energy efficiency in the domestic sector and the promotion of renewable energies in rural areas will be analyzed, while the day of the Mining Basin, to be held in Minas de Riotinto on the 24th, is mainly aimed at municipal political and technical leaders.
In this way, its objective is to inform about energy service companies and about the opportunity they represent for local entities as an effective and viable solution to be able to finance the investments necessary to improve the energy efficiency of municipal buildings and facilities, in addition to becoming a new source of local employment.
And it is that, the promotion of the use of biomass as an energy source and its function as a CO2 sink will be the central theme of the day that will take place on the 22nd in the morning at the School Farm, belonging to the county day. For its part, energy saving and opportunities to improve energy efficiency in the home will be the theme of the Andévalo regional day that will take place in Alosno on the 22nd in the afternoon.
Also on March 23, 24 and 25, a training course will be held for municipal officials for the development and execution of Sustainable Energy Plans. The course, which will be held in the premises of the Local Development Area of the Provincial Council, is the result of the collaboration of two European projects of the Intelligent Energy For Europe Program, PATRES Project and Energy for Mayors project of which the Diputación de Huelva is a partner entity.
Likewise, the deputy of Alternative Energies has also assured that other activities that will be carried out are the installation of various Information Points for Citizens, coinciding with the regional days, and that they will be installed in Alosno, Rociana, Riotinto and Jabugo.
The 38 municipalities that have hosted the aforementioned Week, will develop activities to promote energy saving among schoolchildren with directed educational activities, activities with other sectors of the population through the placement of information points that explain the importance of saving energy. They will also carry out reforestation activities with 5,000 seedlings of native species supplied by the Provincial Council that will improve the quality of life and air of the municipalities.
Finally, in this statement it has been indicated that another of the most requested activities by the municipalities is the Eneragen Game, a didactic game with which they will work with the child population sector in schools and in the Guadalinfo Centers of each locality. Also, according to the provincial deputy, there is great interest in the development of workshops that inform citizens about the best practices for the promotion of energy savings and about the aid available to improve energy efficiency at home.
