The mayor of Móstoles, Esteban Parro, has inaugurated this Monday in the parking lot of the Plaza de Levante of the city the first two 'smart' charging points for electric vehicles, to which are added five more existing in three other car parks in the city.
The event, which was attended, among others, by Francisco de la Peña, general director of the company NS2, responsible for the installation of these points, has served so that those present could witness a demonstration of the operation of these devices, a "pioneering commitment to renewable, sustainable and clean energies, included in the framework of the Sustainable Mobility Plan, one of the management axes that will shape the future of Móstoles as a unique city and a unique space in all areas, "as highlighted by the councilor.
Parro has indicated that the City Council of the town "bets on the future, and the future is in these vehicles", to detail below its multiple advantages. "It is spectacular, zero noise and gas pollution, smooth and everything is easy, it has reprix and reaches a speed like that of any car, with a range of one charge for 150 kilometers and with a cost of 2.5 euros, spectacularly cheap," he said.
"The future is here and we want to be pioneers because through our company EMA --Municipal Parking Company-- we want to provide service of recharging points in all car parks," he added.
Therefore, the mayor of Mostoleño has advocated progressively implementing these devices in the parking lots of the city, since municipal officials understand that due to the time necessary for their loading, from 1.5 hours for motorcycles to 6 hours for high-end vehicles, it is advisable to install them in places where their stay lasts for several hours.
In this sense, the general director of NS2, Francisco de la Peña, has indicated that the arrival of the electric vehicle "is an indisputable fact" although he has pointed out that its more or less rapid implementation in the streets "will depend on the manufacturing capacity of the different manufacturers and their ability to lower prices, because it is still an expensive vehicle even though maintenance tends to zero." Despite the cost, De la Peña stressed that "today the demand is greater than the available supply" and has advanced that "by the end of the year we will see tens of thousands of units reach the market".
Likewise, the head of the company has remarked that "the electric vehicle has a huge acceptance and the most rational and most sustainable is a slow load where the vehicle rests, that is, in parking lots but why not also in train stations, shopping centers or airports," he suggested.
MUNICIPAL VEHICLES
The mayor of Mostoleño has been in favor of converting the fleet of municipal vehicles to the electricity system, due to the economic savings in consumption and maintenance that would mean for the municipal coffers. "We are thinking about the possibility of converting municipal vehicles into electric vehicles because the savings are considerable," he said.
However, he has qualified pointing out that "they have cost us a lot and we have them very recent, so we will have to do something mixed, but from now on those that are bought will have to think about them being electric because the costs are a barbarity of cheap".
The smart charging points have been designed by the communications and energy company N2S, with the POWER2DRIVE system, and have also been installed in three other municipal car parks of the First Phase of the City's Parking Plan, specifically two in the Plaza del Turia, one more in the Avenida de Portugal with Zaragoza Street and another two in Luna Street.
In addition, in the two new car parks of the Second Phase of the Municipal Parking Plan (Simón Hernández-Parque Asturias and New York) the design of a pre-installation is planned to provide all parking spaces with charging points. (EUROPA PRESS)
