
Thousands of bats and birds die each year from chasing insects that are attracted to wind turbines, but a new study suggests that painting the supports and blades purple will deter insects. Why only purple, though? Adding some color to wind farms could attract fans, repel insects, and protect bats and birds.
Wind turbines have reached maturity as a permanent element on the energy horizon. As the novelty begins to disappear, it is nice to see how wind energy is reinvented beyond pure functionality. Decorative solar panels could be the next step.
