Is the earth really warming, and air pollution causes global warming as they say? Global warming is the popular science theory that the Earth is warming.
The global warming theory has its critics, there's some evidence that it may be happening, and it certainly seems quite logical. Do you want to do something about it? Helps reduce pollution. One of the main contributors to this global warming is the increase in air pollution in recent centuries.
Our earth has a layer of air surrounding it that is known as the atmosphere. Its layers create what is popularly known as the greenhouse effect.
It also protects the earth from the sun's strong ultraviolet rays and forms a barrier to keep a certain amount of heat close to the planet. Without the air surrounding the earth, the climate would be more like that of the moon, if such a thing could be said, and life would be impossible.
According to experts in air quality conservation, we have a number of common pollutants increasing the natural greenhouse effect. Pollutants, so-called greenhouse gases, are formed from natural processes. For example:
Carbon dioxide is produced by the respiration of animals and by the decomposition of organic substances.
Methane gas, twenty-one times more potent than carbon dioxide, as far as global warming is concerned, comes from animals and swamps.
Nitrous oxide is more than 300 times more potent than carbon dioxide and is emitted from microbial processes and the bacterial breakdown of nitrogen, both on land and in water.
