The Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce, Miguel Sebastián, has opted for new technologies and energy saving as measures to reduce energy dependence in Spain, as he said this Friday during the presentation of the candidacy of Concepción Narváez to the Mayor's Office of San Bartolomé de Tirajana (Gran Canaria), which was attended by the socialist candidate for the Presidency of the Island Council, Carolina Darias, and the candidate for the regional presidency, José Miguel Pérez.
As he explained, "the future is to bet on new technologies, energy and energy savings to reduce the energy dependence suffered by this country, and in that future there are the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria and San Bartolomé de Tirajana, because our oil is tourism with the great difference that it is a resource forever, it never ends if we manage to take care of it and bring it up to date continuously."
Sebastian said that the industry is not at odds with respect for the environment, sustainability or quality employment. "We are committed to industry in all territories, including in the Canary Islands," said the minister, who also defended continuing to promote renewable energies and trade.
On the other hand, the minister began his speech at the event remembering the victims of the 11M attacks and transferring the solidarity of the PSOE with those affected by the earthquake that occurred this Friday in Japan, remarking that it is the PSOE "the Party that has been concerned about equality, health, dependence and, although there have been difficult years when difficult decisions have had to be taken, over time it will be known that they were important to take them and that they have helped to bring the country out of the crisis."
