Yuji Ohya, a professor at Kyushu University, presented at the 2010 International Renewable Energy Expo in Yokohama a new concept for generating wind power in a much more efficient way.
The new turbine called "Wind Lens" features a structure that functions as a magnifying lens that intensifies sunlight. In this case the hoop what it does is intensify the flow of the wind, Yuji Ohya affirms that these devices triple the energy obtained from the wind with respect to the traditional ones.
So far its creator has not decided its commercialization, but everything indicates that it is a project with a lot of potential, has a floating hexagonal base, suppose a lower acoustic impact and improve safety in general. Each lens measures 112 meters in diameter and can provide enough energy for a home and a half approximately.
