The City of Toronto already generates electricity from landfills, but is now working on a new project to generate power from garbage. They are developing a garbage collection truck that runs on biogas generated from garbage.
The new trucks will feature a Cummins Westport ISL G engine that can run on natural gas or biogas generated at Toronto landfills. Its creators hope that in the future the truck can work directly with the organic waste that it collects along the way.
