In the state of California USA there is currently the law called AB23 that forces the largest car companies to design electric, hybrid and high-performance vehicles for the environment, and requires the state to consume a third of its energy from wind and solar generation.
Recently some of the most important oil companies in the country such as Valero and Tesoro launched Proposition 23, a law that tries to annul the AB32 law with arguments that this law will only create unemployment and is a new way to create a tax for energy consumption.
It seems incredible that in the world there are people against renewable energies, these companies are only interested in their business economy without caring at all about the care of the environment and the planet in which they live.
This week billionaire Bill Gates contributed $700,000 in a campaign called NO TO PROPOSITION 23, former Vice President Al Gore had asked California voters the day before to vote against the oil companies' proposal, Proposition 23, which will be presented in the November 2 election. The other two businessmen are Gordon Moore, who donated one million dollars, and Sergei Brin, who contributed another $200,000 to the campaign in defense of AB32.
