Iberdrola Renovables has reached 28 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity in Cantabria, as reported by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV).
In total, Iberdrola Renovables produced 18,091 million kilowatt hours (kWh) in the first nine months of the year, representing an increase of 20.2% compared to the same period in 2009, and reached 12,006 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity, 14.6% more.
Of the total electricity production of Iberdrola Renovables until September, 17,392 million kWh corresponded to wind energy, 19.4% more; 645 million kWh to mini-hydro (+35.3%) and 54 million kWh to other renewable energies, such as biomass or solar thermal (+498.8%).
In wind energy, 7,500 million kWh (41.5% of the total) correspond to energy generated in Spain, 18.2% more, while 7,430 million kWh to the United States (+29.5%); 984 million kWh to the United Kingdom (-22.6%); and 1,479 million to the rest of the world (+21.9%).
Taking into account only the data for the third quarter, Iberdrola Renovables' electricity production reached 5,233 million kWh, 17.2% more. 96% of all generation came from wind farms and 2,379 million kWh of this wind energy came from the United States, with a growth of 35.5% compared to the third quarter of 2009.
12,006 MW OF INSTALLED CAPACITY.
Worldwide, Iberdrola's renewables subsidiary has an installed capacity of 12,006 MW, after increasing its capacity by 1,529 MW during the last year.
The company, which has facilities in 12 countries around the world, has a total installed capacity in Spain of 5,593 MW, 4,314 MW in the United States, 910 MW in the United Kingdom and 1,189 MW in ROW (rest of Europe and South America).
The main increase in capacity has occurred in the United States, where Iberdrola Renovables has installed 855 MW in the last 12 months thanks to which it has reached 4,314 MW and has consolidated itself as the second operator in the sector in this country.
By autonomous communities, Castilla-La Mancha is the one that concentrates the largest installed capacity, with 1,981 MW. It is followed by Castilla y León (1,222 MW); Andalusia (803 MW); Galicia (627 MW); Aragon (278 MW); La Rioja (248 MW); Basque Country (153 MW); Murcia (146 MW); Valencia (57 MW); Navarra (44 MW); Cantabria (28 MW); Extremadura (5 MW) and Madrid (1 MW).
