The Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade has officially registered enrolment of power for renewable energies the 50 megawatt (MW) en Ence biomass plant in Huelva, which will become the largest of its kind in Spain.
In a statement, Ence explains that the plant will concentrate investments close to 100 million and will have the capacity to supply clean energy to about 400,000 people. The registration in the Industry Register is the definitive confirmation by the Central Administration that the project will be able to go ahead.
Ence has shortlisted three companies, which are Técnicas Reunidas, OHL and Acciona, for the construction of the plant, which will be delivered 'turnkey' and will include an engineering contract that will facilitate the reduction of deadlines and the start-up of the new facility.
The new facility will increase Ence's electricity production capacity from biomass, which already has an installed capacity of 230 MW.
The Huelva plant project is part of the company's plan to take positions in the energy sector, which includes the development of biomass plants in Spain to reach 440 MW of installed capacity in 2015.
Ence, which concentrates approximately 40% of all the electricity produced with biomass in Spain, estimates that the Biomass Plant in Huelva will generate about 550 stable jobs, and up to 1,000 counting on those induced. (EUROPA PRESS)
