With the installation of a photovoltaic park, Guanajuato places the country on the path of renewable energy producing nations, said Governor Juan Manuel Oliva Ramírez. This park, the largest in Latin America, is located on six hectares of Guanajuato Puerto Interior; it will have an investment of 110 million pesos and will generate more than 100 jobs during its construction.
Accompanied by the Undersecretary of Energy Planning and Technological Development of the Ministry of Energy, Carlos Federico Petersen, as well as the general manager of the company Desmex, John Vom Frantzius, the state president stressed that this park will generate more than 9.5 million kilowatts a year, which represent the energy used by three thousand homes, which means stopping burning five thousand 667 barrels of oil annually.
"The start of the installation of the photovoltaic park is one more fact that supports our actions. In planning this administration, one of the commitments was to generate tools to guarantee effects that reduce climate change and provide energy security to all the inhabitants of Guanajuato," said Juan Manuel Oliva.
Therefore, there are four primary objectives that are: to make the energy consumption of the different sectors of society and government more efficient; encourage the use of renewable energy generation sources in the state; promote infrastructure for the use of renewable energy and seize opportunities and develop capacities for the reduction of greenhouse gases.
For these works, the State Government formed the Inter-Secretarial Energy Commission, an agency in charge of promoting, among the different dependencies, the saving and efficient use of energy and the promotion of the use of their renewable sources.
