International. According to the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Europe has increased this year the number of commercial properties with sustainable building certificates by 64% compared to 2013.
The report called Going for Green: Sustainable Building Certification Stadistics Europe 2015 makes a statistical study on the buildings of that continent destined for commercial use and certified by Breeam, LEED, HQE and DGNB.
Breeam certification has the largest number of recognized buildings, with a market share of 80%. It is followed by the HQE standard, from France, which has 11% of the certificates, meanwhile, the DGNB standard and the LEED contribute 9% of the total cake divided into approximately 4.5%.
The report also highlights that the certification of buildings as a market has increased by 295%. This growth, according to Breeam, is a consequence of the new legislative and economic environment in which owners try to certify their assets to meet the standards of international companies.
