Spain. The Andalusian Institute of Technology (IAT) is in an analysis process for the design of air conditioning in electric vehicles, which seeks to adapt to the environmental characteristics proposed by the technology.
Over the next four months, the IAT will conduct studies under high-temperature conditions to more accurately analyze the behavior of this class of systems and make some improvements.
Estimates indicate that the air conditioning system in an electric vehicle consumes about 10% of the battery, however, the analyses that are being carried out on its performance in different temperatures will allow to know the exact figure.
After the results, the researchers will work on the new design of the feet and the minimization of the environmental impact, accessing the patents thinking about a future commercialization, which could be expected in the middle of 2013.
